2024 US Open Review: Jannik Sinner’s Achievement

US Open Upsets: Djokovic and Alcaraz’s Shocking Exits

The 2024 US Open had its fair share of drama. Notably, big names like Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were eliminated earlier than expected.

Djokovic, a tennis legend, was stunned in the third round by the 28th seed, Alexei Popyrin.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz, who many expected to reach the final, lost to the unseeded Botic van de Zandschulp.

As a huge Alcaraz fan, I was disappointed; it felt like not winning the gold at the Paris Olympics may have messed with his confidence.

Similarly, Djokovic admitted that his energy was drained post-Olympics.

Despite his talent, even the GOAT canโ€™t avoid the stamina issues that come with age.

An American Finalist: Close, But No Trophy

It was exciting to see an American make it to the US Open final!

Tennis fans in the US were thrilled, especially when two Americans, Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz, faced off in the semifinals.

But when Jannik Sinner dominated the final, I imagine many American fans felt let down.

Personally, I thought Fritz was just too nervous to bring his A-game in his first-ever major final.

I mean, who wouldnโ€™t be nervous in their first Grand Slam final, right? Itโ€™s understandable, and I hope Fritz can use this experience to come back stronger.

European Players: Still Running the Show

The dominance of European men in tennis continues to be insane.

Since 2009, European players have taken home all 59 Grand Slam singles titles.

Even my personal favorites, Alcaraz and Sinner, are from Europe.

Itโ€™s crazy how much pressure these young guys carry with them, but they still manage to live up to the hype.

Daniil Medvedev is another guy whoโ€™s killing it lately.

Heโ€™s known for being a beast on hard courts, but this year, heโ€™s even started owning it on grass.

Watch out for these guys, because Iโ€™m pretty sure theyโ€™re not slowing down anytime soon.

Whatโ€™s Next for Tennis?

It was an unforgettable US Open, with plenty of surprises, especially Sinnerโ€™s huge achievement.

How do you feel about the tournament? Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughtsโ€”drop them in the comments!
