When it comes to the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft, Reed Sheppard and Ron Holland are two players that have everyone talking, and for good reason.
Personally, Iโm most excited about these two prospects, expected to be picked 3rd and 5th in the first round, respectively.
Ron Holland
Ron Holland made the unconventional choice of joining a G League team instead of playing college ball.
Despite a thumb injury limiting him to just 14 games, his impact was undeniable.
His offense flows smoothly, making it difficult for defenders to keep up.
While he doesnโt have blistering speed, his fluidity is so natural that itโs almost like watching water flow.
Heโs the kind of player I aspire to emulate.
Hollandโs playing style draws comparisons to Kevin Durant, particularly in how he moves on the court, though his shooting could use some refinement.
Standing at 6-foot-8, with both flexibility and a natural feel for the game, heโs an exciting prospect with immense potential on both ends of the floor.
While he has plenty to learn, especially in terms of decision-making, thereโs no denying he has a bright future ahead.
His potential truly makes me envious.
Reed Sheppard
In his freshman year at the University of Kentucky, Reed Sheppard posted an impressive stat line, averaging 12.5 points per game.
What really sets him apart, though, is his jaw-dropping three-point shooting percentage of 52.1%โthe best in the nation.
His ability to sink deep threes without hesitation and effortlessly dribble past defenders instantly made me a fan.
Sheppard is highly skilled, but his relatively smaller size at 6-foot-2 may present some challenges at the next level.
Despite his height, he compensates with tough defense and strong playmaking abilities.
Personally, I see shades of Damian Lillard in his game, and I have high hopes that he can reach that level of play.
Looking Ahead
The NBA Draft always brings a new wave of exciting young talent, and this year is no different.
Watching players like Ron Holland and Reed Sheppard grow and develop into stars is one of the most thrilling aspects of being a basketball fan.
